As a biochemical process engineer, my research interests are primarily focused on the development, control and optimization of biological processes. Such processes include bioremediation of wastes, bio-ethanol production, bio-pharmaceutical production and food and beverage fermentations. Over the last several years, particular emphasis has been placed on yeast fermentation related to brewing and my research group operates a 2.5 bbl micro-scale brewery in support of these projects.

I am the Coordinator for the undergraduate Bioprocessing Science Program. Our research brewery supplies samples of our products to over 50 NCSU campus events per year and has been awarded two ribbons (2012 and 2013) at the NC Brewers Cup.
